Getting To and From Bandipur
The way up from Dumre and back — the local bus and jeep, what they cost, and the last bus down in the afternoon, with the Kathmandu and Pokhara connections — so a trip doesn't strand you at the junction.
Bandipur has one road in — the 8 km climb from Dumre on the Prithvi Highway — and no railway anywhere near. Almost everyone arrives the same way: a highway bus to the Dumre junction, then a local bus or a jeep up the ridge. Here is how that journey works in each direction, what it roughly costs, and the one thing worth planning around: the last local bus down leaves in the afternoon, and after it the only way off the ridge is a private jeep.
Plan your way back before you set off
There is no train. The buses out leave in the late afternoon, and missing the last one means staying the night. Note your last bus before you arrive:
- Toward Dumre: last bus reported around around 3 pm — confirm the exact time with the operator.
- Toward Kathmandu: check the operator’s last departure.
- Toward Pokhara: check the operator’s last departure.
