Getting to Bled Without a Car
The trains and buses that reach Lake Bled, which station is best for what, and the summer shuttle around the lake — so you can skip the parking hunt and the summer road closures.
Bled sits on one lake road that fills up all summer, with parking that's scarce, pricey and — in high season — closed to non-residents on parts of the shore. The easiest way to skip all of that is to leave the car behind. Here's how to arrive by train or bus, and how to get around once you're here.
You don't need a car to reach Bled
Two railway lines and direct buses from Ljubljana bring you to the lake, and a summer shuttle gets you around it. Arriving car-free means no parking hunt and no summer road closures. The quick version:
- Fastest: the train to Lesce-Bled on the main line, then a short bus or taxi the last 4 km.
- Prettiest: the train to Bled Jezero on the Bohinj line — about 1.5 km from the centre, walkable to the lake.
- Simplest from the capital: a direct Arriva bus from Ljubljana to Bled.
