What Should the Fare Cost?
Fair fare ranges from Isiolo — the matatu to Nairobi or Meru, the bus up the A2 to Marsabit and Moyale, and boda-bodas and tuk-tuks in town — with the inflated ask to turn down.
Isiolo is where the tarmac north begins, so a journey from here is a string of fares you agree before you get in. Matatus, shuttles and buses fan out to Meru, Nairobi and up the A2 to Marsabit and Moyale, and boda-bodas and tuk-tuks cover the town itself. Pick what you are doing below to see the fair price range neighbours and travellers report, the inflated ask to turn down, and one line to hold your ground. Settle the fare before you board.
Prices are in Kenyan shillings and move with the fuel price, the season and the day.
- Isiolo to Nairobi (matatu or shuttle seat)KSh 1,100 – KSh 1,500
