Leavenworth has one direct way over the mountains to the Seattle side: US-2 through Tumwater Canyon. Avalanche control, rockfall and flooding can close it with little warning — in December 2025 a washout shut the canyon for about two months. When the canyon is blocked, cars can usually still get to Wenatchee and the valley by the Chumstick Highway (SR 209); the long way around is US-97 over Blewett Pass.
This board lets drivers and neighbours mark the stretch where they are seeing a problem, so the next person can check before setting out. It shows what people on the road are reporting, not an official status — always confirm with WSDOT before you travel, and call 911 in an emergency.

How this works
WSDOT's real-time map and the WSDOT app carry official closures and pass conditions; dial 511 for statewide travel info. Chelan County Emergency Management issues evacuation and incident alerts. In an emergency, call 911.
