In September 2020 a 'Watch and Act' bushfire at Balmoral Ridge, on Maleny's eastern fringe, forced evacuation orders for residents east of Sinclairs Lane. Fire and Emergency warned that firefighters might not be able to protect every property — the reminder behind the town's own Get Ready Maleny plan.
