Getting Here & Getting Back
Stanley's one bus a day: Route 768 to Smithton and Burnie, when it leaves, the fare, and the community transport to book ahead if you have no car — so you don't get stranded.
Stanley has one public bus a day. Route 768 (run by Kinetic for the Tasmanian transport network) links Stanley with Smithton and Burnie, but on weekdays it runs only once each way — out of Stanley early in the morning, back in the mid-afternoon. Miss it and the next one is tomorrow, so plan an overnight rather than a same-day round trip. There is no rideshare in Stanley and no taxi based in town. Residents without a car who need to reach Smithton (the hospital, 21 km away) or Burnie should book Circular Head community or medical transport ahead by phone — see the numbers below.
One bus out, and it leaves early
On weekdays the only Route 768 service out of Stanley leaves around 7:21am; the return from Burnie is a single mid-afternoon run. There is no later service to fall back on, so if the bus is your only way home, build the whole day around it.
- Last bus back toward Burnie: around 7:21am on weekdays — the only bus out
